Skipjacks Hand #10 Monroe University-Bronx First Loss of the Season

The Chesapeake College Women's basketball team achieved an impressive victory by handing #10 Monroe University - Bronx their first loss of the season, ending their perfect 7-0 streak. The game was fiercely competitive, but Chesapeake managed to secure the win with a final score of 77-68.

Key performances included Gabrielle Corbin (Salisbury, MD/ Salisbury), who led the team with 26 points, shooting 11-16 and adding 12 offensive rebounds. Lourden Banks (Accokeek, MD/ St. Mary's Ryken) contributed significantly with 20 points, maintaining fierce momentum throughout the game and added 6 rebounds to the team's total. Shenell White (Deltona, FL/ Deltona) totaled 14 points and was crucial for the team's defense managing 6 steals. Banks also added 3 steals, giving Chesapeake power over Monroe University. Ty'Aishah Moody (Easton, MD/ Easton) also made valuable contributions scoring 12 points, continuing pressure on their opponents.

Chesapeake shot 38.7% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line, while Monroe had a strong shooting game but couldn't overcome Chesapeake's efforts on the boards and defense. The team's toughness and teamwork led to the upset, marking a memorable victory in their season. 

The Skipjacks host Frederick Community College on Wednesday, November 19th at 5pm for their first Region 20 matchup of the season.
