Skipjacks Suffer Second Loss of Season

The 20th ranked Chesapeake College Skipjacks came into the game against CCBC Dundalk with an 8-1 overall record and 2-0 in Region XX play.

After a slow start, the Jacks took a two-point, 33-31, lead into halftime. Out of halftime on the first possession, Dundalk knocked down a three-pointer to take the lead. The Jacks and Lions would then have 11 lead changes until just under six minutes when Dundalk would go up two scores. For the second game in a row, freshman Xavier Buchanan (St. Charles HS) would knock down a three-pointer inside of the last minute of the game to either take the lead or tie the game. With the score now tied at 60, with 9.8 seconds left in regulation, Dundalk pushed the ball up the floor and called a timeout with 4.6 seconds left on the clock. After the timeout, Dundalk hit a turnaround jump shot from 15 feet that put them up two with 0.4 seconds remaining. The Jacks were able to get off a last second half-court shot, but fell short.

Sophomore La'Shaun Moody (Cambridge HS) was the lone Skipjack in double figures with 23 points. He also added five assists, and four rebounds. Freshmen Xavier Buchanan added nine and Elisha Johnson-Dixon added eight.

The Jacks will be back in action on Friday, December 12th to matchup against region foe, Anne Arundel Community College at 7 PM.
