On Saturday September 20, the Chesapeake Skipjacks competed in a tough tri-match against Carroll Community College and Garrett College, demonstrating resilience despite falling in straight sets in both matches.
In their bout with Carroll Community College, the Skipjacks fought hard but ultimately fell in three sets with scores of 19-25, 14-25, and 15-25. Similarly, in their match against Garrett College, Chesapeake showed determination but was unable to secure a win, losing 21-25, 19-25, and 21-25.
Throughout the day, several players showcased their grit and skill. Sacoya Williams contributed with a total of 10 kills and 18 digs, while Iyona Brown added 7 kills and 17 digs. Kaleigh Hammond was an offensive force at the net with 10 kills, and contributed defensively with 14 digs, and 3 blocks. Montana Davis added 18 digs to the team's total, while Kendra Coffey recorded 22, creating an indestructible defense. On the service line, Kendra Coffey delivered 6 aces, and Marisa Lopez added 4 aces along with 9 digs.
Despite the setbacks, the Skipjacks fought valiantly in every rally, displaying heart and determination. They continue to develop as a team, and their effort on the court remains commendable.
