Skipjacks Win Eight Straight
The #18th ranked Chesapeake College Skipjacks came into this contest on a seven-game win streak, and Harford came into the game on a four-game win streak. Something had to give in Bel Air, MD.
Harford got on the board first after a driving layup. The Skipjacks would come up empty on their first couple of possessions. Chesapeake would then go on big a run and take an eleven-point advantage before the Fighting Owls would go on a run of their own and take a one-point lead, 23-22. The score would remain within one or two possessions until halftime, as Chesapeake would go into halftime with a seven-point lead, 33-26.
Chesapeake came out of halftime hot and went on to take another double-digit lead over Harford and never looked back. The lead would get as high twenty points and the Fighting Owls never got it lower than fourteen points for the remainder of the game. The Jacks would go on to win the game, 69-50 over NJCAA D1 Harford CC. It was the best defensive performance of the season as the Skipjacks held the Owls to 28.8% from the field and forced them into 17 turnovers.
Three players from the Skipjacks notched double figures in the win. SO La'Shaun Moody led the way with a double-double, scoring 19 points, and grabbing 11 rebounds. SO Marquis Hamby chipped in 18 points. FR Koby Ennals added a 14 point, 7 rebound performance. The Skipjacks move to 16-2 on the season, with their eighth straight win and stay undefeated on the road.
